Tulip for Okta - Overview

Tulip’s Okta adapter allows you to:

  • Fetch and deploy Okta security application configuration data, such as applications, policies, and rules.

  • Back up Okta configurations and restore from previous snapshots to ensure compliance and support forensics and audit processes.

  • Deploy major configuration changes from an Okta Preview to your production environment, with structured workflows that assess operational and security risk.

  • Compare tenant configurations or compare a tenant’s configuration to its previous snapshot.

  • Document configuration changes, such as policy modifications, with a complete history of all changes for audit and root cause analysis.

  • Monitor specific security-related changes, such as changes to group rules or group assignments, and detect and remediate security issues.

Known Limitations

  1. Support of Okta’s classic engine is available, yet limited and active work in progress. If you run into any issues, please reach out to us @ support@tulipsecurity.com.

  2. Application integration limitations:

    1. Any app configuration changes done using Tulip change only the Okta side. Additional setup might be needed in the integrated application.

    2. Sharing application key credentials across multiple apps is not supported yet (Okta’s doc)

  3. Okta Workflows are not supported.

Does Tulip manage secrets?

No, Tulip doesn’t manage or store any secrets.

Does Tulip manage users and group memberships?


Tulip supports managing users and group memberships, but this feature is optional.
By default, Tulip does not fetch or manage any user data.
If you choose to enable this support, you can opt in when connecting your tenant, please follow this guide for instructions.
